Is the wife obligated to offer expiation (kaffarah) along with fasting for delaying the make-up of accumulated Ramadan days, and what is its amount in Jordanian Dinars, and is it permissible to fast at the time of the pilgrims' return?
The wife must make up for the fasts she missed. If she does not know the exact number, she should fast a number she believes corresponds to the missed days. Along with making up the fasts, she must pay an expiation for delaying them if the delay was without a valid excuse. This expiation is feeding one poor person for each day. It is not permissible to pay the value in money unless there is no one to accept food. In that case, she should pay the value of approximately 750 grams of rice for each day. As for fasting at this time, there is no validity to the claim that it is impermissible, for there are no days when fasting is forbidden except the two Eid days and the days of Tashreeq.
