Sidr is a well-known tree in the desert, and its fruit is nabq. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade cutting it idly, saying: “Whoever cuts a sidr tree, Allah will cast his head into the Fire.” Sidr is mentioned in the Holy Quran in the description of the bliss of Paradise: “And the companions of the right – what are the companions of the right? [They will be] among sidr trees with thorns removed.”
