Is it permissible to own taxidermied animals for the purpose of decorating a place?

In linguistics, embalming (tahnit) means using "hanut" (a mixture of fragrant substances for embalming the dead). As for chemical embalming or taxidermy, which involves removing parts of an animal and stuffing it with substances to prevent decay for decorative purposes, there is no explicit text prohibiting or permitting it. The general principle is permissibility. Analogy to statues is far-fetched because the embalmed object is the animal itself. The use of the "bu" (a stuffed camel foal hide) has been permitted. However, a distinction is made between edible and non-edible animals that are not permitted to be killed, as this would involve taking a life without a lawful reason.

Nevertheless, embalming is prohibited if it leads to extravagance and waste of money, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah dislikes for you gossip, excessive questioning, and wasting money."
