The apparent meanings of the hadiths indicate that every deceased person is questioned in their grave, whether Muslim or disbeliever. This is a general questioning that does not differentiate between types of believers or disbelievers. Exempted from the trial and torment of the grave are the Prophets, the martyr in the way of Allah, the one stationed at the frontier (murabit), and whoever dies on Friday. As for the deceased seeing their family members, there is no conclusive evidence for that. The deceased transitions to the realm of Al-Barzakh. It has been reported that they know who visits them, find comfort in their loved ones, and learn news of their family by asking those who have recently passed away and joined them. Their relatives and family who preceded them welcome them and rejoice in them. They also know who washes them and hear people's praise of them.
