What is the ruling on accompanying unrighteous friends with the intention of guiding them?

If you find yourself firm in goodness and do not fear faltering by associating with your friends, then associate with them with the intention of inviting them to Allah, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "For Allah to guide a single man through you is better for you than having red camels."
