Is it permissible for my mother to dispose of a piece of gold that I sent for her to sell and donate its price to orphans, by giving it to my needy married sisters, and is she sinful for that, and will I be rewarded for my original intention despite my disapproval of her action, and should I have objected?

All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. We bring you glad tidings that Allah does not let the reward of those who do good deeds be lost. There is no need for confusion or sorrow, for you have attained the reward of maintaining kinship ties and charity through your intention. The door of charity to orphans is open, and you are more deserving of your money. Your mother is sinful for delaying the distribution of the gold to its rightful recipients, for giving the value of the small piece to non-orphans, and for giving the large piece to your sisters without your permission. It is incumbent upon your mother and your sisters to return the two pieces unless you waive your right to them. Your feeling of being exploited is correct, and honoring your mother does not permit her to usurp, nor does your silence imply consent. Your request to your sisters not to adorn themselves with the two pieces is not considered an act of reminding [of a past favor] except under two conditions. Sending gifts from your husband's money requires his permission.
