What is the criterion for blameworthy and praiseworthy joy, and is it permissible to rejoice at recovery from illness, Allah’s bestowals of sustenance or children, success in studies or work, promotion at work, meeting loved ones, and a new car?

"Rejoicing in the worldly life and its bounties can be either praiseworthy or blameworthy, depending on its cause and consequence. The joy that leads to arrogance and boasting is blameworthy, whereas the joy that preserves one's honor and wealth or alleviates the needy is praiseworthy. It has been said that blameworthy rejoicing in worldly life stems from heedlessness of the Hereafter. Blameworthy joy is absolute, while that which is restricted by Allah's grace and mercy is praiseworthy, such as rejoicing in Allah's favor and guidance, which is better than what people accumulate of worldly possessions."
