Is it a condition to adhere to a specific location within the Grand Mosque of Mecca during the i'tikaf of the last ten days, or is it permissible to move and change one's place within it?

The scholars have agreed that I'tikaf (spiritual retreat) is to remain in the mosque for worship, and it is not valid except in a mosque. If "Al-Haram Al-Makki" means the Sacred Mosque (Masjid al-Haram), then there is no obligation to adhere to a specific place within it, and it is permissible to move around as long as one remains inside the mosque. Some scholars have recommended for the one performing I'tikaf to stay in the back of the mosque to distance himself from those who might distract him with conversation.
