Is it permissible for a father to demand seven years' rent from his son for his stay in the father's house, especially after a dispute between them and the father's desire to vacate the house for his daughter, knowing that the son has complied with the eviction request and bought another residence?

The rights of parents are immense, and dutifulness to them is the greatest right after the right of Allah. We advise the son to be close to his father, obey him, and be dutiful to him.

If the father insists on taking rent from his son, he has the right to do so if he stipulated it or if it is the prevailing custom, as the father's obligation for maintenance and housing ceases when the child reaches adulthood, is of sound mind, and capable of earning. The maintenance of a male child is obligatory until he reaches adulthood, is of sound mind, and capable of earning, and for a female until her husband consummates the marriage, unless the child has earnings or wealth that makes him self-sufficient.

A father must be just among his children, and it is not permissible for him to prefer some over others unless there is a valid reason.
