Is it permissible to accept maintenance and gifts from an infidel father who inherited money from his Muslim relatives and whose money became mixed with lawful money, knowing that an infidel does not inherit from a Muslim?

The scholars are in agreement that a disbeliever does not inherit from a Muslim, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "(A disbeliever does not inherit from a Muslim)." Nor does a Muslim inherit from a disbeliever. However, if a Muslim is given something from the wealth of his deceased disbelieving relative, not as an inheritance, but as a gift or a bequest, it is permissible for him to take it, as long as it does not pose a trial for his religion. And if the wealth of the disbelieving father is mixed with lawful and unlawful earnings, it is permissible for the Muslim son to take from it, and the sin is upon the father.
