Is slaughtering for the sake of Allah superior to other acts of worship and charities, and is it the best option when facing problems or illnesses?

Slaughtering an animal as an act of drawing closer to Allah Almighty is among the virtuous acts of obedience, and it contains the meaning of charity. However, it is not superior to all other forms of obedience. Providing water (to drink) is the best form of charity, and prayer, Hajj, and Jihad are, as a whole, superior to charity.

Slaughtering an animal when illnesses and calamities strike is a form of charity and an act of kindness that can cure diseases and ward off afflictions. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Cure your sick ones with charity," and "Acts of kindness protect against evil ends, afflictions, and destructions." Giving charity in the form of money may be better than slaughtering an animal if a poor person is in dire need of money. This matter varies according to circumstances.
