Is a woman's marriage with the approval of her brother and the rejection of her mother considered an act of disobedience (ʿuqūq)?

Obeying one's mother, honoring her, and treating her kindly is a duty. However, if a mother insists on marrying her daughter to someone she (the daughter) does not approve of, and the daughter is content with a suitor who came to propose due to his religious commitment and good character, then the mother's obedience is not obligatory, and marriage is permissible without her consent. The brother is the guardian (wali) in marriage when the father or son is absent, and his arranging the marriage without the mother's consent is not considered an act of disobedience.
