Which should be given precedence for leading the prayer (Imamah): one who has memorized the Qur’an and is knowledgeable of Tajweed rules but has an ordinary voice, or one who has memorized only one juz’ (part) but has a beautiful and humble voice? And is the prayer valid if I lead the people, while I am not a memorizer of the Qur’an, and they insisted that I lead despite my saying that the one who has memorized more should be given precedence?

If one of the two men is a حافظ (memorizer) of the Book of Allah the Almighty and knowledgeable of the rules of Tajwid, then he is more entitled to lead the prayer than someone who has memorized only one part (juz') but has a good voice. This is based on the Prophet's ﷺ saying: "The one who is most knowledgeable of the Book of Allah should lead the people in prayer." However, if the one with less memorization leads the prayer while someone with more memorization is present, the prayer of all of them is valid.
