Does a divorce take effect if a man tells his wife: "You were married to a good man," intending that her relatives would say that after his death, even though he did not intend divorce by that?

What the man said to his wife does not constitute a divorce. One should be wary of obsessive thoughts (waswasah) and excessive questioning, and instead occupy oneself with what benefits one in matters of religion and worldly life. Being overly inquisitive is blameworthy in Islamic law and entails a waste of time, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave me as I leave you, for verily, those who were before you were destroyed by their excessive questioning and their differing with their prophets. So, if I command you with something, do as much of it as you can, and if I forbid you from something, then abandon it." The Companions would inquire about practical matters that benefited them, not about hypothetical scenarios or convoluted questions.
