What is the ruling on my prayer when I suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder regarding the release of gas, as I cannot be certain of its exit? Should I repeat the ablution or not, knowing that I apply the saying of Ibn al-Mubarak: "Unless you have a certainty that you would swear by that something has exited from you, then you must close the door to whispers [of doubt]?"

Al-Tirmidhi reported Ibn al-Mubarak as saying: "If one doubts about hadath (ritual impurity), he is not required to perform ablution until he is certain with a certainty that he could swear an oath by." This ruling is particularly important for those afflicted with waswasah (obsessive whispering); they should not give in to doubts, nor should they repeat ablution merely based on a doubt, nor should they meticulously investigate. Rather, they should turn away from these waswasah and pay them no heed until they achieve absolute certainty that something necessitating ablution has occurred.
