Why is there focus on the hijab, even though it is not one of the pillars of Islam, and its status is equal to other commands such as truthfulness and treating neighbors well?

Islam is a great and comprehensive methodology. The hijab for women is a symbol of modesty and chastity. Removing it exposes her to the meddling of miscreants and disobedience to her Lord. Allah Almighty says: "O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they should be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful." (Quran 33:59). The faith and piety of a believing woman must be evident in her dress, far removed from the ostentatious display of the first Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance). Focusing on the hijab does not contradict focusing on the rest of the pillars of Islam and virtuous morals. Abandoning the hijab leads to ostentatious display (tabarruj), which causes the spread of indecencies, the disruption of security, the emergence of deadly diseases, the disintegration of families, the wrath of Allah, and the loss of both this world and the Hereafter.
