What is the ruling on women attending the congregational mosque on Friday to listen to the sermon, given that there is a narration from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to expel women from the mosque on Fridays, and given that the entrance for women in some of these mosques is opposite men or within their sight?

The scholars are unanimous that women are not obligated to attend Friday prayer. However, if they attend it, it suffices for them. It is preferable for them to pray in their homes. It has been narrated that Ibn Mas'ud's actions indicated his dislike for women to go to the mosque on Friday, and he stated that it is permissible for them to pray Friday prayer with the Imam or four rak'ahs at home. This is understood as a matter of dislike by the majority of scholars and the four Madhhabs, while some of them restrict this dislike to beautiful women.
