How can a Muslim woman who has recently committed to prayer maintain her steadfastness, find peace in her heart, and increase her commitment after having found happiness in obedience, especially with her feeling of fear of returning to what she was, and her desire to improve her attire?
We praise Allah the Almighty for guiding you to be diligent in prayer. Do not pay attention to discouraging words, and think well of Allah, for He will aid and strengthen you, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I am as My servant thinks of Me, so let him think of Me as he wishes." A Muslim should not grieve because of the words of discouraging people, as Allah said to His Messenger: "And let not their speech grieve you."
Among the greatest things that will strengthen you in obedience is keeping the company of righteous friends. As for wearing trousers, you are obligated to wear the legal hijab when going out. Do not delay repentance from this sin, because delaying it may lead to negligence. Strive to draw closer to Allah so that He may strengthen you, for whoever draws closer to Allah, Allah draws closer to him, as Allah the Almighty said: "And if he draws near to Me by a handspan, I draw near to him by an arm's length. And if he draws near to Me by an arm's length, I draw near to him by a fathom. And if he comes to Me walking, I come to him running."
