- Bayt (بيت): A single-roofed structure with a hallway. It ceases to be called a bayt if it collapses.

- Manzil (المنزل): Includes multiple buyut (houses), a roofed courtyard, and a kitchen, inhabited by a man and his family. It is larger than a bayt but smaller than a dar, comprising at least two or three buyut.

- Dar (الدار): Includes buyut and manazil (dwellings), and an unroofed courtyard. It remains a dar even if its walls are removed.
