The sayings of the Companions and the Successors, in both prose and poetry, can be found in many books by scholars, such as: Sirat Ibn Hisham, Al-Isabah fi Tamyiz al-Sahabah, Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq, Sunan al-Bayhaqi al-Kubra, Hilyat al-Awliya, Siyar A'lam al-Nubala, and Nahj al-Balagha, in addition to the poetry collections of some Companions like Hassan ibn Thabit and Ali ibn Abi Talib. There are also books dedicated to their sayings in tafsir (exegesis) and fatwas (religious edicts).
