The answer

The Shari'ah commanded maintaining kinship ties and forbade severing them, as well as hatred and turning away from one another. In the Hadith: "Do not hate one another, do not envy one another, do not turn away from one another, and be, O slaves of Allah, brothers. It is not lawful for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three [days]," and "A severer of kinship ties will not enter Paradise."

It is obligatory to think well of relatives and interpret their actions in the best possible light, to confront the whispers of Satan by supplicating for them, and to counter evil with good and kind words, as Allah Almighty says: "Nor can goodness and evil be equal. Repel [evil] with what is better, then verily he, between whom and you was enmity, [will become] as though he was a devoted friend." Courtesy breaks enmity and brings affection.
