What is the ruling on using black dye for hair and beard, and is it prohibited in the Hanafi school of thought?

The Maliki school views dyeing hair black as forbidden if it is for deception, recommended for jihad, and disliked for showing off youthfulness. The Shafi'i school, however, considers dyeing hair black absolutely forbidden except in jihad, citing the hadiths of Jabir and Ibn Abbas as evidence.
