The answer

Al-Bukhari narrated from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would not leave anything containing crosses without removing them (either breaking or cutting them), due to the cross's indication of the worship of other than Allah. The also indicates the obligation to change evil. Muslim narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is unable, then with his tongue; if he is unable, then with his heart—and that is the weakest of faith." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded the effacement of images and the leveling of elevated graves. Therefore, the presence of symbols of disbelief (such as the six-pointed star) is an evil that must be removed and effaced.
