What is the ruling on consuming gas when the gas meter does not accurately measure consumption, after notifying the authorities responsible for this?

The consumer must pay the company the true cost of the gas consumed, in fulfillment of contracts. He is not permitted to withhold this right unless the company waives it. If there was an error in calculating consumption that led to a shortfall in the amount paid, the consumer must return the excess he consumed.

If he cannot accurately determine the value, he must estimate it fairly and approximately. If the company refuses to accept the amount, he must donate it for the benefit of the Muslims, provided there is certainty of the error. However, if it is merely a doubt, there is no need for that. In this regard, one should consult experts in gas meters.
