What is mentioned in the Holy Quran regarding the practice of violence against women?

Islam is a religion of mercy and justice, which calls for noble character and rejects violence. It forbids the inheritance of women against their will and their oppression.

Islam commanded that women be treated kindly, and made marriage a source of tranquility, affection, and mercy.

Islam did not sanction any violence from a man towards a woman except in cases of disloyalty and rebellion, where it prescribed admonition, then abandonment, and then non-violent striking as a last resort to preserve the family.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade striking women and clarified that the best of men are those who do not strike their wives. He also advised treating them kindly in terms of clothing and food.

Finally, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against neglecting the rights of the two vulnerable ones: the orphan and the woman.
