Is it permissible to abandon a ill-tempered wife who harms her husband and instigates problems due to her jealousy, while continuing to see and care for the children?

A wife who is insolent towards her husband and curses him is considered defiant (nashiz). She should be dealt with by admonition, then by abandoning her in bed, then by striking her if the previous measures are ineffective. The abandonment period should not exceed one month. If the wife does not cease her defiance and continues her bad behavior, the husband may divorce her, as keeping her might be purely harmful, according to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "There are three whose supplications to Allah Almighty are not answered: a man who had a bad-tempered wife but did not divorce her."
