Can Fatwa No. 159694 be reviewed regarding the weakening of the hadith, "What makes you know that he is a martyr? Perhaps he used to speak about what does not concern him, or he was stingy with what would not نقص him," based on Sheikh Al-Albani's mention of it in "Sahih Al-Targheeb" under number 2884 and his authentication of it for others?

Shaykh Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) retracted his authentication of the hadith: "And what makes you know? Perhaps he spoke about what did not concern him, and withheld what did not harm him," for three reasons:

1. The frequent weakening of it in two places, as opposed to its authentication in one place.

2. The delayed publication of the two weakening instances in "Silsilah al-Sahihah" and "al-Da'ifah" compared to the publication of "Sahih al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib," and what comes later supersedes what came before in a change of ijtihad (independent reasoning).

3. The detailed rulings and mention of defects and proofs in the two Silsilahs, unlike "Sahih al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib," which mentions the ruling concisely.
