The preponderant opinion is that the marriage of a pregnant woman is valid and effective. If the child is born before six months from the marriage, it is attributed to the mother. If it is born after six months, it is attributed to the husband, unless he denies it through li'an (oath of condemnation). However, if the husband was certain of the pregnancy before marriage and consummation, then the child is a child of zina (fornication) and is not attributed to the husband. It is not obligatory for a son to obey his father in keeping a wife whom the son dislikes, and he would not be considered disobedient if he divorces her.
