Who was the first of the Prophet's wives, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, to die after his passing?
The first of the Prophet's wives (peace be upon him) to pass away after him was Umm Al-Mu'minin Zaynab bint Jahsh Al-Asadiyyah Al-Qurashiyyah, who was previously married to Zayd ibn Harithah. Allah Almighty married her to His Prophet, and she used to take pride in that. She passed away, may Allah be pleased with her, in the year twenty in Medina, and Umar ibn Al-Khattab led her funeral prayer. At her death, Umar commanded that only a should attend her funeral. Asma bint Umays suggested making a covered litter, and Umar was pleased with that and ordered the procession for her funeral. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The quickest of you to join me is the one with the longest hand," meaning her abundant charity and maintaining ties of kinship.
