What is the ruling regarding a husband who abuses his wife and her family, frequently swears to divorce, does not pray, and wants his disabled wife to take out a usurious loan or sell vehicle permits designated for disabled individuals? Is it permissible for the wife to refuse him and seek divorce, knowing that she wishes to preserve her home?

It is the wife's right to be treated kindly in conjugal relations. It is not permissible to insult her or beat her without justification, nor to swear by divorce, nor to prevent her from visiting her mother. It is not permissible for a wife to obey her husband in an act of disobedience, even if it leads to divorce. She has the right to take her case to a judge. If the wife chooses to endure her husband, her guardians are not permitted to prevent her; for Allah has forbidden hindering women.
