What is the difference between the Prophet's ﷺ request that our last words be the prayer before sleep, and that the conclusion of Surat Al-Kafirun be our last words, and how can we reconcile between them? And is the admonition delivered at the grave before or after the burial of the deceased? And what is the meaning of "لم يُلْحَد" (he was not placed in a niche grave) in Al-Bara's hadith?

Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, in "Al-Fath," commented on the phrase: "And make them the last thing you say," by stating that Al-Kashmihani's narration "from the last" does not prevent mentioning the prescribed remembrances before sleep after them, and that this is not obligatory. The "lahd" (niche) is the slanted cavity in the side of the grave, and "lam yulḥad" (was not placed in the lahd) means he was not put into the lahd. The admonition occurs during the burial of the deceased, and what is prescribed after burial is to seek forgiveness for the deceased and supplicate for their steadfastness.
