If a year has not passed on the borrowed money, zakat is not obligatory upon its return. However, if a year has passed, zakat becomes obligatory on it. The debt is deducted from the zakatable wealth if there is no other non-zakatable wealth exceeding the need that can cover it. So, if there is surplus non-zakatable wealth equal to the value of the debt, the full ten thousand is zakatable. But if the surplus is less than the debt, the difference is deducted from the zakatable wealth. And if there is no surplus non-zakatable wealth, the entire debt is deducted from the zakatable wealth, and the remaining five thousand is zakatable.
