What should I do about an error found in one of the verses of Surat Al-Baqarah on an Iranian website, which I cannot contact to correct the word "al-muhtadi" instead of "al-muhtad"?
The word "المهتدي" (the guided one) does not appear in Al-Baqarah in its singular form. Rather, it appears in the plural, in His (Allah's) Almighty saying: "Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided." (Quran, 2:157) and His Almighty saying: "So their transaction did not profit them, nor were they [rightly] guided." (Quran, 2:16) If there is a spelling error in an electronic (copy of the Quran), the website should be contacted to correct it, as the Quran is written in the Uthmani script. If it is not possible for them to do so, there is no blame upon them, for Allah has undertaken to preserve His Book.
