It is forbidden to kill ants unless they cause harm, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade killing four creatures, and among them is the ant. It is permissible to kill them when they cause harm, using pesticides or other means, but not by burning, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade torture by fire.
