What is the ruling on inserting a finger into the nose or ear to remove dirt from them?

Cleaning the inside of the nose and ear with a finger is permissible, though it is better to use a tissue or a piece of cloth. One should avoid doing this in front of others or should do it away from them, as it may cause discomfort. It should be noted that the Shariah encourages and urges cleanliness in public taste.
