Is performing Sa'i in the new Mas'a like performing Sa'i in the new mosque, while performing Sa'i in the old Mas'a is better, like the old mosque? And what is the difference?

The validity of performing Sa'y (the ritual of walking between Safa and Marwa) in the new Mas'a (the path for Sa'y) is established. The argument for the superiority of performing Sa'y in the old Mas'a, based on its precedence and drawing an analogy to the preference for an old mosque, is theoretically plausible, especially as it resolves the contemporary dispute regarding the validity of the new Mas'a. However, this preference might conflict with a more significant harm, such as causing difficulty for those performing Sa'y or inflicting damage upon them. In such a case, this preference must be abandoned, for when a benefit is outweighed by a greater harm, abandoning it becomes obligatory. As Ibn Taymiyyah stated, commands and prohibitions are considered in light of what opposes them; if the harms are greater, it is not commanded.
