Is uttering the Two Testimonies with the tongue sufficient, or is it a condition to comprehend the meaning of "there is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace" along with uttering it? And are there other conditions? And what is the meaning of "there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah"?

Uttering the Two Testimonies (Shahadatayn) with understanding of their meaning is sufficient for judging a person's Islam, because it is an expression of what is in the heart, and it safeguards one's blood merely by uttering them, except for the rights of Islam. Uttering them is sufficient, even in a language other than Arabic for those who do not master it, for the intent is to express the heart's affirmation. As for a person benefiting from the Two Testimonies, merely uttering them is not enough, for they have seven conditions—like the teeth of a key—whoever fulfills them will benefit from that, and it will lead him to Paradise, by the permission of Allah Almighty.
