The proof for this is the prophetic hadiths that prohibit the announcement of lost items in the mosque. It is permissible to advertise worldly matters by placing advertisements on the exterior wall of the mosque. However, advertisements for acts of obedience, such as religious lectures, are permissible inside the mosque. Advertisements for Hajj and Umrah campaigns should be placed outside because they involve financial gain. People can be invited to a marriage through phone calls or text messages. The majority of jurists deem it desirable to conduct marriage contracts in the mosque, but the hadith reported regarding this is weak. It is a permissible act, not a sunnah.
