Does uttering "You are divorced" to the wife constitute divorce while in a state of extreme anger due to problems she caused and responded to with indifference?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Anger does not prevent the occurrence of divorce as long as the person who utters it is aware of what he is saying and is not overwhelmed by his intellect. If the anger has caused loss of consciousness and overwhelmed the intellect to the extent that he does not know what he is saying, then his divorce is not effective. However, if he is aware and not overwhelmed by his intellect, then his divorce is effective. If this divorce does not complete the three divorces, then he may reconcile with his wife before the expiry of her iddah (waiting period).
