Is eating chicken skin forbidden?

The permissibility of eating chicken in general is indicated by what is narrated in the Sahihayn from the Hadith of Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, ate from it.

Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar transmitted the consensus of scholars on the permissibility of eating chicken, except for what is explicitly excluded, namely, the "Jalalah" (an animal that feeds on filth). Some scholars are of the opinion that such an animal should be confined for three days before being eaten.

If the permissibility of eating chicken is established, then its skin is likewise permissible. Al-Mawardi mentioned that it is obligatory to accept the skin that is customarily eaten with the meat, such as the skin of birds and chickens.

Al-Nawawi mentioned the permissibility of selling meat that is scalded (or cooked) with its skin.
