Is it permissible to undergo surgery to reduce the size of a large nose that causes psychological distress and is found displeasing by people, for the sake of marriage, knowing that the intention is not to change God's creation or for mere beautification, but rather for acceptance in marriage? And if it is not permissible, is it then permissible to abstain from marriage and practice asceticism in life, and what is the reward for that?

Marriage is among the practices of the prophets, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged it. It is obligatory for whoever is able to marry if they fear falling into sin, and it is recommended for them if their soul yearns for it and they are safe from temptation. As for the nose, it is not permissible to perform an operation to reduce its size unless the defect is disfiguring or causes pain or harm, because mere ordinary large size does not permit altering Allah's creation.
