Is it permissible for a woman to wear loose trousers over which a long coat reaching the knees is worn, and is it true that wearing them even in front of her husband at home is impermissible?

Wearing trousers is not forbidden if they are wide and thick, and if a woman wears an abaya or a milhaf (a large covering) over them. As for the claim that it is not permissible to wear them even in front of one's husband, this is false, because there is no 'awrah (private parts that must be covered) between spouses. However, if there is no covering over them, or if they involve imitating disbelieving or immoral women, then it is not permissible.
