What is the ruling on one who divorced his second wife due to the absence of love and affection, while having a first wife and lacking the financial ability to be just in cohabitation?

A man divorcing his wife without a valid reason is disliked (makrooh), and some scholars have even deemed it forbidden (haraam). However, it is permissible when there is a need due to the wife's bad character. Feelings of love are not a condition for the stability of married life. Similarly, fairness in sexual intercourse and emotional inclination between wives is not obligatory; what is obligatory is fairness in lodging and financial support. A man should not marry another woman unless he is capable of providing for her and being just between the two wives.
