Is it permissible to use a hair recipe that contains ground hedgehog spines with oils, and is that considered impure?

The quills of a hedgehog are pure if taken from it while alive, or after its ritual slaughter (tadhkiya), because the preponderant opinion is that a hedgehog is permissible to be ritually slaughtered. However, if it is not ritually slaughtered, then it is considered carrion (maytah), and benefiting from its quills depends on whether they are considered like hair or bone. If they are like hair, they are pure according to the majority of scholars. If they are like bone, they are pure according to those who hold that view. As for the opinion that the bone of carrion is impure, and that hedgehog quills are similar, then it is not permissible to benefit from them except out of necessity. However, it is permissible out of necessity, such as for medicinal purposes.
