The heirs are: the wife, the mother, and the father. Maternal uncles are relatives by kinship and do not inherit. The father bars the brother, the sister, and the paternal uncles from inheriting, and the mother bars the grandmother. The distribution of the inheritance is as follows: The wife gets one-fourth due to the absence of children: "But if you have no child, she shall have a fourth of what you leave" (An-Nisa:12). The mother gets one-sixth due to the presence of a group of siblings, and the remainder goes to the father by virtue of 'asabah (agnatic relationship).
