It is permissible to work in the service of pilgrims (hujjaj) and visitors to the Sacred House (Bayt al-) and to take a wage for it, provided that the wage is known, due to the prohibition by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, against hiring a worker until his wage is known. The prevailing custom and common practice are sufficient for determining the wage. One should be gentle with the pilgrims and not overcharge them.
