Is drinking while standing forbidden based on the hadiths that prohibit it?

The scholars have reconciled the narrations that prohibit drinking while standing with the narrations that indicate the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, drank while standing, by explaining that the prohibition mentioned is understood as a disfavored act (Karahat Tanzih), and that it is preferable to drink while sitting, and that his drinking while standing indicates its permissibility.

Imam An-Nawawi said: "The correct view regarding them is that the prohibition in them is understood as a disfavored act (Karahat Tanzih). As for his drinking, peace and blessings be upon him, while standing, it is a clarification of permissibility."

Accordingly, the default and preferred way is to drink while sitting, and it is permissible to drink while standing.
