Is kohl permissible or forbidden for women?

It was narrated from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, that he encouraged the use of kohl with ithmid (antimony) for both men and women, because it brightens the sight and grows hair. He had a kohl container from which he applied kohl every night, three strokes in this eye and three in that.
