What is the ruling on delaying the instruction of the Shahada to a disbeliever if he requests it, whether the delay is to inquire about his intention or to complete another task?

Disbelief (kufr) is one of the gravest evils, and it is obligatory to hasten to remove it. Therefore, it is impermissible to advise a disbeliever to delay his conversion to Islam; rather, this is strictly forbidden. Whoever does so commits a grave sin among the major prohibitions. If a disbeliever wishes to embrace Islam, he must hasten to do so and not delay it for ghusl (ritual bath) or anything else. And whoever is consulted on this matter is obligated to urge him to hasten to embrace Islam. As for the claim that he thereby becomes a disbeliever himself, that is an exaggeration. The correct view is that he has committed a tremendous sin. If there is a benefit in publicly announcing his conversion to Islam, then he should first be commanded to embrace Islam, and then to announce it.
