Is the Earth small in this cosmos, or is it vast as indicated by the verses, "His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth," and "a Garden whose expanse is the heavens and the earth"? And does the heaven encompass the Earth from all sides, as mentioned by Sheikh al-Islam, or is it only above us in height, which contradicts the sphericity of the Earth and the existence of multiple heavens for its different parts?

The Quran emphasizes the Earth more than other celestial bodies because it is the dwelling and stable abode of humankind, serving as a tangible reminder that calls for gratitude and thanks to Allah. It was revealed for all people, not solely for astronomers. As for the question of directions, the true directions are only: above and below. Above is the direction of the circumference, and below is the direction of the center. The other directions (right, left, front, and back) are relative, conceptual directions. There is no one who lives on Earth upside down; whoever lives on Earth is beneath the sky. As Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "No side of the celestial sphere is beneath the other, nor is the North Pole beneath the South, nor vice-versa… Similarly, animals, plants, and weights on Earth are not said to be beneath those; this is merely an imagination conceived by humans, and it is a relative 'under'." This matter is agreed upon among Muslim scholars who affirm the circularity of the celestial spheres and the sphericity of the universe's bodies.
